Today’s shoot was one of the first submissions we received for Juno & Joy and we’re delighted to be able to publish it today. Styled by Kirsten of The Little Wedding Helper for Arnos Vale, a unique and beautiful woodland wedding venue in Bristol, the location offers a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Here’s what Stylist Kirsten had to say:
I was so excited to get my hands on the Underwood Centre that I was already dreaming up ways to style the space long before Sarah Pavey, of Arnos Vale, invited me to style a shoot there. I picked out some of my favourite suppliers, loaded my car with furniture and props, and headed into the woods in search of a surprise…
It was a crisp October morning, jewel bright leaves littered the ground, and the woods were awash with colour. With British weather being changeable at best it’s unusual to see such a beautiful outdoor venue so close to the centre of a city. As a venue Arnos Vale is unique. Not only is it a registered charity and a slice of living history, it’s home to two gorgeous chapels and acres of woodland full of British wildlife – I’ve even seen deers here. Once you’re through the gates the gates the tranquillity and calm is remarkable – the perfect backdrop for couples wanting a touch of rustic romance.
Each member of the team is local to Bristol so the shoot is a real testament to the talent in Bristol. I love living in a city with so many opportunities to collaborate and create something breathtaking. From the flowers to the cake, from the amazing beaded gown and artisan stationery, the attention to detail was exquisite. I especially loved the rough finish to the cake and the earthy colours that Emma and Harriet used in the floral arrangements and invitations.
I am excited to see how different couples make the Underwood Centre their own and look forward to adding my own special touches again soon.
We adore what Kirsten and her talented team of collaborators have created, from the sumptuous colours, to emerging trends such as the textured façade on the wedding cake…and there’s even grey candles in the candelabra – something I was debating with my florist friend yesterday…why aren’t blush-toned candles used more? I digress. It’s blooming lovely from start to finish…
