Today I’m welcoming back Sarah Loughrey-Jennings from Hiding In The City Flowers – regular contributor to our flower guide and all round florist extraordinaire! From Sarah:

Wahoooo BRITISH SUMMER TIME began on Sunday (29th March). OFFICIALLY!!!!! Are you planning your summer wedding? Well, how about including beautiful blue blooms into your day and couple it by using British Flowers that are popping up as we speak? (Thus supporting British Flower growers, AND getting an amazingly scented bouquet at the same time. Boom.)

At the shop we are so excited to be starting the season with flowers from Dutch AND British growers in our weddings. By adding British flowers they bring an extra special level of uniqueness to your day as we are able to lay our hands on species and varieties that are only available from British growers that will make your flowers that extra bit special. An added bonus is many growers in the UK do not use pesticides and preservatives that can be found on imported varieties so you can pop them on cakes too.

With British summer, bring British blues (not our disappointment in the weather, but the colour). At Hiding in the City, we think Blue marks summer time and by coupling British and foreign flowers we can achieve romantic blues with silvery foliage’s to die for. (Think about using Nigella, Scabiosa, Thistle, Clematis) We’ve included a soft mood board below but you can add a bit of electric excitement by asking your florist to add in pops of the brighter more vibrant blues using British Delphinium’s, Passion flowers and Cornflowers.
