There’s nothing better than seeing the words “luxe country wedding” in the same sentence…OK, perhaps gazumped only by seeing photographic evidence that this is wedding style that really works. Think opulent colours, blousy blooms, seasonality and statement wear and you’re getting pretty close to wedding utopia. Sarah and Hans wedding is so effortlessly chic it hurts. Full of personality, style, luxury and colour it’s been beautifully captured by Jay Emme…
From Bride Sarah:We live in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, but the wedding took place in my family’s home-town near Bath; the church ceremony in Farnborough and our marquee wedding reception took place on a plot of land looking over Prince Charles Duchy land in Newton St Loe – it’s an organic farm where we also bought meat from for the wedding reception. We wanted a very glamorous marquee with the option to design it ourselves and many wedding venues didn’t offer us an interior space that we could influence as much as marquee venue. The advantage of having a venue on a hill in the English County side – is the view!
My gown was bought in an old city called Utrecht in the Netherlands – it was the second dress I tried on and as soon as I saw myself in it, I could envisage wearing it down the aisle. Spanish designer. Hans wore a pure silk blue suit from Dolce & Gabbana.I bought antique statement earrings and the owner rented a beautiful matching bracket – I couldn’t afford to buy it!
Our flowers were stunning – we wanted striking bright colours that were not artificial looking – huge roses everywhere. The candelabras were very special centre pieces with flowing wild foliage and huge balls of flowers on top. Flowers were created by Ron at Flowers by Passion – an excellent choice.
Our AMAZING food provided by Michelin star restaurant, The Pony & Trap in Chew Magna. The two owners, brother and sister, Josh & Holly were fantastic from start to finish. Holly also event managed the day. Henry from Bath Marquee. The did a fantastic job since we were very unsure of how to make our dreams become a reality. Henry’s addition of a sky lit roof was amazing!!
Make -up artist Mel was an angel on the day. She did five bridesmaids and the bride in 4 hours and even had to drive me to the village church since the wedding car broke down. Our photographer Jay Emme was patient, organised, fun…and an amazing person the share a special day with. And she can dance!!
From Sarah’s simple statement “power-house”gown (very Claire Underwood don’t you think?) and Hans dapper blue D&G suit to the pops of colourful florals and touches of humour throughout…it looks like a riot of a wedding day!
