Black Magic – Mystical Wedding Inspiration

BLACK MAGIC SHOOT ëCASTí LISTConcept & Styling - Bellaboo and Beau - Rebecca Douglas - Elmley Nature Reserve - Blooming Green with Rache

I’m going to keep this intro brief, but let me say today’s inspiration is pretty darn awesome. Edgy and boundary pushing mystical wedding style is certainly one worth exploring. Sultry and sexy using the best of the wedding trends being touted to endure, from bridal separates and statement make-up to dark florals, jewel toned chocolates and a decadent cake this talented team has nailed it all, expertly captured by Rebecca Douglas Photography.

Over to stylist Jenny from Bellaboo & Beau: As soon as I discovered Elmley Nature reserve it conjured up a really barren and eerie yet natural and honest feel. I like to create shoots that have a concept to carry them through and magic was something that I had not seen in a wedding shoot before. The idea of potions, casting spells, summoning a groom was accentuated with the use of purples and blacks, crystals and amethyst. Victoria’s Aviary designed us some tattoos inspired by amethyst and the symbol of the third eye. Rock the Frock Bridal supplied two dresses, one from Lorie X that worked perfectly for the innocent, groom seeking bride and one from Velvet Johnstone which was used for the spell scenes as we moved into dusk and created a slightly darker, more provocative bride…

Rock Crystals and chocolate jewels in ring boxes as favours added a unique touch and carried across the concept to the table-scape where the rich purples and plums contrasted so luxuriously with the green of the foliage table runner. All suppliers worked to a creative brief supplied by myself and they truly helped this shoot to deliver some rich, original imagery around a relatively new concept in the wedding field. I am extremely happy with the result.

From photographer Rebecca: With such a rich brief, I wanted to capture images with an artistic approach, using light and shade to enhance the mystical feeling. The rustic and moody landscape at Elmley meant I could use elements that natured delivered, with a breeze for movement in the attire and hair and capture darker images at dusk.

Proof there are so many ways to explore style within a wedding…for me this shoot offers an ethereal feel but the play and contrast between light and shade takes it very much into a bolder, more statement direction. Love it!
