Offering everything we love in a wedding celebration – highly personal choices reflecting the couples signature style…which is in Simon & Ria’s case, is laid back and lovely…today’s wedding captured beautifully by Rebecca Roundhill needs little introduction, for Bride Ria has summarised wonderfully:
This might sound bizarre as we choose to get married on a Farm, but we were looking for a relaxed beach / garden party style wedding. We live by the beach in Sydney, love the outdoor lifestyle and wanted an informal relaxed event that was untraditional and personal to “us”. Aussie BBQ meets English garden party. As we don’t get to see our family and friends in the UK much, we wanted to make it a weekend long and have the chance to properly catch up, head to the beach on the Sun, play a spot of rounders and maybe even surf.
We came across photos of Nancarrow when it was being built, already excited by the look of the timber frame, we got in touch. Steve and the rest of the team are incredible; we fell in love with all their ideas and plans for the venue. The simple, elegant barn design, the great open planned social space in the accommodation barn, the re-use of existing materials both inside and out, oh and the fresh meat from the farm, which is served as a feast and char grilled in front of the guests…it just all sounded so perfect. Our parents visited on our behalf and we booked a few months before we even got to see Nancarrow for ourselves. We were delighted when we finally got to check it out.
Organising from abroad – it was my parents made it all possible. A massive thank you to my Mum who stepped in, she made the runners, confetti cones, all the bunting and even did a floristry course so she could do all the flowers. She brought the flowers from local flower farm Tregothnan as we wanted locally grown in season flowers. The plan was for the flowers to feel like you’d picked they during a walk through a meadow, and I’m so pleased with Mum’s creations, I couldn’t have dreamt for more.
Ben Quinn, the chef at Nancarrow designed and created an amazing spread of food and our band, Mammoth Funk, played at our friends wedding the year before; we were delighted that they were happy for us to book the same guys. Si wanted to do something slightly different for our first dance, so we chose our favourite Ben Howard tune and he played guitar with the band before we hit the dance floor for the last part of the song.
Our photographer was the fabulous Rebecca Roundhill, we loved the look of her reportage style and after a Skype call to meet her, we knew she was the perfect person to capture our ‘big day’.
…Possibly one of our favourite venues ever, perfect for rustic farm wedding style, Nancarrow just get it so right! And Si & Ria’s day looked so wonderfully relaxed and stylish – truly beautiful.
