I’m having a bit of a Carrie Bradshaw moment again. Every now and then I remember my girl crush on her and all the girls of SATC and reminisce of my days as a student in London when I’d watch it the show in my PJ’s with my house-mate Amry and we’d pick apart our relationships questioning if it were possible to have found “the one” at such an early stage in our lives…
(FYI we both went on to marry our then boyfriends and all still adore each other some 13 years later! True love & friendship finds you in all sorts of crazy and unexpected places)
I think my nostalgia is all to do with the sad news of Oscar De La Renta’s passing and the images being shared of SJP in some of his iconic gowns that has got me longing for my own piece of Carries wardrobe - so today I’m coveting a company who’d been on my radar for a while and who’s designs I’d love to wear in order to have my very own “Big” moment.
Doris Designs, the luxe and lovely petticoats for fashion forward brides, maids, flower girls and frou frou loving women in general. So sassy, so sexy, so fun these colour-tastic lovelies are not only great to wear under your gown but as the centrepiece of your outfit! I can see many a bride wanting to wear one for their city wedding, as a boho bride for a festival celebration or as part of a vintage-inspired ensemble.
Made from over 36 meters of chiffon (the adult version) they are light, bright and exceptionally pretty. I’d go for a muted tone - teamed with a bretton striped top and skyscraper heels for my very own “channelling Carrie a la Paris” - come and sweep me off-my-feet husband, dream sequence.
