Our final instalment of British Flowers Week and I just want to say a big thank you to Liz of Blue Sky Flowers for contributing her time to create such pretty and informative posts…I hope this week has familiarised you with a few of the blooms you can use that are home grown – choice isn’t that limited at all. Simply consider seasonality. Over to lovely Liz:
English Stock is the most fluffy, fragrant, feminine flower there is. It is another of my favourites and I rarely do a hand tied thank you bouquet without using some in one colour or another. In shades ranging from brilliant crisp white, through vanilla ice cream to Barbie pink, soft lilac and deep purple, it goes with pretty much anything and makes a bunch of flowers something special
A chic bunch of white stock can be all a bridesmaid needs to finish off her outfit – whatever her dress colour or a handful of blush pink ones can enliven a handful of antiquey lilac roses and make it something truly special. Take some for a spin and you will see that they aren’t just filler flowers.
For me, stock has such a quintessentially British look – very “garden of England”, it evokes chocolate box cottage scenes in my head! Will you be choosing stock for your big day?
